Paul and Barnabas had to part ways simply because Barnabas insisted they take along John Mark, his cousin, to their next missionary journey. Paul, who was fully convinced, rejected the idea of having John Mark on board this time round due to his disloyalty, according to Acts 15:36.
This led Paul and Barnabas to part ways. Paul embarked on this missionary journey with Silas, and they traveled through Syria and Cilicia for their missionary work. Barnabas and John Mark, on the other hand, sailed for Cypress
The evidence and results were clear with Paul and Silas, who achieved and did greater things for God. However, much was not heard about Barnabas and John Mark in Cypress.
According to ancient sources, Barnabas was preaching at a synagogue in Salamis when a mob attacked him, dragged him out with a rope around his neck, and killed him. These same sources tell us that John Mark, who also happened to be the cousin of Barnabas, collected the body of Barnabas and buried him in this area. This is what disloyalty can do.
Disloyalty is costly. If you are a leader in any area, be careful of disloyal followers. Disloyal people are dream killers and vision destroyers. Just be careful around them.
It is even better to go solo if you know the dream better than anyone else because it is better to travel solo than to travel with disloyal people who will eventually kill that great vision you have.
