My keynote speech as a guest speaker on the Theme: Journeying Into The Future.
Flobar Int. Sch. Graduation Ceremony
“Good afternoon everyone. Honored guests, esteemed management of Flobar School, proud parents, and, most importantly, our distinguished graduates. I am honored to share this moment with you as you end and begin a new chapter of your life.
I would like to use this moment to acknowledge and thank the esteemed management of this great school, the teaching and non-teaching staff who have guided and supported our graduates throughout their educational journey. Your dedication and commitment have been instrumental in shaping the minds and futures of these remarkable individuals.
Like a farmer who goes to the field to sow his seeds with great expectation of a bumper harvest, I believe the seeds you have sown in this remarkable individuals will grow very well, bearing good fruits which will go a long way to make them useful citizens in this country tomorrow. In Galatians 6:9 which reads: “and let us not grow weary while doing good, for in due season we shall reap if we do not lose heart”. So I encourage you to keep up the good work.
To the parents, families, and friends of our graduates, today is as much a celebration of your efforts as it is of the graduates. I am very happy to know that this great school is built on the foundation of the Word as the motto of the school is: Train up the child the way he should go and when he grows, he will not depart from it. (Proverbs 22:6). I must say that your unwavering support, sacrifices, and encouragement have played a crucial role in their success. Thank you for being their pillars of strength. Continue to train them in the fear and knowledge of God.
To our graduates, today marks a significant milestone in your lives. You have worked tirelessly, overcome challenges, and persevered to reach this moment. Your hard work, determination, and resilience have brought you here, and you should be incredibly proud of your achievements.
As you end this chapter of your academic journey in Flobar School, you are about to begin another important journey in your academic life. You will be moving to the senior high level very soon.
Remember that! You will meet different kinds of people with different behaviours and attitude.
1. Do not let the training and nurturing you have received here be in vain. Not to scare you; but the world out there is full of wolves, lions, wild beasts and scavengers in the form of humans ready to parasite and make you feel less of a human in that you will not achieve your purpose and full potential in life. The good news is:
In journeying into the future put God first ahead of everything. In your next endeavour in the senior high level, allow the presence of God to go before you in anything that you do. Anything committed into God’s care is always a success.
2. In journeying into the future, Form good friends and associates who will bring the best out of you and challenge you to be the best. Know and remember that you will meet 2 groups of people in the senior high school. I call them the plastic chair seaters and the normal bench seaters.
3. You are fearfully and wonderfully made by God. Each and everyone is unique in his or her own way. In journeying into the future, Be confident, Have a positive mental picture about yourself. Anytime you stand in front of the mirror, tell that person you see in the mirror that “i will make it”. With faith, perseverance and hardwork, you will get there.
A favorite quote from Marcus Garvey (one great political activist) goes like this: “if you don’t have confidence in yourself, you are twice defeated in the battle of life, but with confidence, you have already won before you started.
4. In journeying into the future, you will need a positive Attitude. Attitude is everything. When you add all the letters we have in the word attitude it sums up to 100. How you feel about Mathematics, Science, English, etc will determine the actions you will take towards it. So for example, if you have a negative mentality or attitude towards Science, your behavior and actions will be that, you will be skipping Science class and not even learn very well for it. If you want to go far and achieve great things in life, have a positive attitude towards everything you do. At your workplace, don’t go to work late and leave before closure time. The workplace and country as a whole can never develop with such an attitude. You and I have a part to play in the success trajectory of this country and it all starts with a positive attitude.
5. It is said that If you fail to stand for something, you fall for anything that comes your way. On this note, Integrity is one key virtue I want you to take home; doing the right thing when no one is watching you is another key virtue as you journey into the future.
6. The world has really evolved, developed and advanced greatly as far as Science and technology is concerned. It will interest us to know that Flobar School by the grace of God has built a remarkable science edifice and infrastructure purely science based for all students who have special interest in science. The world has moved from the era of the usual cliché: “chew, pass and forget”. The world is now after those who can critically think, analyse and solve problems and add value to the world and science is no exception in this regard. Employers are now looking for people who can bring something meaningful to the table that will promote the good image and progress of the job. Science and technology is no exception in achieving this. I humbly appeal and entreat all parents here to buy into this dream and idea of this great school by making your wards enrol in this scientific training. I believe further information can be gotten from the management of the school hereafter.
7. I advocate and admonish all parents and teachers to be more interested in what their children are searching on the Internet. Ethically , parents and teachers should regulate what their children watch and search on the Internet because social media like fire is a good master but can also be a bad servant depending on how we approach and use it.
In conclusion, as you step into the next chapter of your lives, remember that education does not end here. Continue to seek knowledge, embrace new challenges, and strive for excellence in everything you do. The world is full of opportunities waiting for you to explore and conquer.
The teacher said something profound in Ecclesiastes 11:6: “sow your seeds in the morning, and in the evening do not withhold your hand; for you do know which will one that will prosper: either the first or last or whether both alike will prosper”.
We have full confidence that you will carry the values and lessons learned here into the world, making meaningful contributions to society. Whether you are pursuing further education, entering the workforce, or embarking on other adventures, know that you have the tools and the spirit to succeed.”
Long live Flobar School!, long live Ghana!!
Thank you.
