Who Moved My Cheese is a parable about change that takes place in a Maze where four characters look for “Cheese”—cheese being a metaphor for what we want in life.
It had four characters :
Sniff: One who sniffs/looks ahead; anticipates change
Scurry: One who, scurries ahead and bumps into change or the action.
Hem: One who denies changing as he fears it will lead to something worse.
Haw: One who learns to adapt in time when he sees change can lead to something better.
Who moved my cheese away? is a fable about four characters who live in a maze, and they all love cheese.
One day when the cheese gets disappears Scurry and Sniff enthusiastically head out to the maze to find new cheese, on the other hand, Hem and Haw feel betrayed and complain. They waste their time and energy hoping the old cheese will return. Haw realizes the old cheese won’t return so he sets out into a maze in search of new cheese, he writes what he learns on walls hoping that Hem follows him, eventually he discovers new cheese and sees that Scurry and Sniff were already there.
Cheese is a metaphor for what you want in life. It could be a good job, love in a relationship, money, or health.
The very core message of the book is that things constantly change, so we must adapt. The quicker we adopt the change, the more satisfied we will be.
Moral lessons:
1. There’s a difference between activity and productivity.
2. Getting out of your comfort zone makes adapting to change easier.
3. Fear that you let build up in your mind is far worse than the situation that exists.
4. When you change what you believe, you change what you do.
5. The fastest way to change is to laugh at your own folly—then you can let go and quickly move on.
6. You have to find your own way, beyond your comforts and past your fears. No one else can do it for you, or talk you into it. You have to see the advantage of changing yourself.
7. It’s safer to be aware of your real choices than to isolate yourself in your comfort zone.
