The ‘Wele wahala’

Humorous

Granny loved “wele”, and that strengthened our relationship, because just like you, I love it too.

On a regular day, when everyone lives home, she will shout my name, “EBB, draw closer, let’s plan our lunch, go to Auntie Adjoa’s shop, and check if she’s got some fresh “wele.”

This statement sounds soothing to my ears because I knew what Granny could do with the “wele”.

The sound of “wele” brings you thoughts of Kwame Eugene, right?

Don’t worry, this ain’t his type of stew, my Granny doesn’t like “kontonmire”, not to talk of “s3b3”.

Little Job, our catĀ , is a very stubborn friend.

It always puts me into trouble.

Granny and I seems to be getting along so well, until the unexpected happened, which brought an end to our good “wele” friendship”.

Granny was in a happy mood then, from the look of her composure.

She sent me out first to get her two bottles of club muscatella, her favorite drink.

She handed over one to me and we had a jolly good time once again, amidst lunch of “wele” stew with fried fish and boiled yam.

I bet you will love it my good reader.

We had a left over stew, and Granny left this in my custody with the assurance that, we will be taking it with rice as supper, when she returns from women’s fellowship.

I left the stew on top of the dinning table, forgetting to put it into the fridge, and lo and behold, little Job, the stubborn cat , got hold of the stew, picked up the ”wele” and fishes one after the other in sequence, to join his friends in the neighborhood.

I came back from my usual water fetching chore, to meet the chaos little JobĀ , had created.

Granny placed the blame at my door step, I really felt remorseful that day, because I realized Granny came back hungry from the fellowship.

Now Granny, little Job, and myself were at logger heads in the house.

Our usual “wele” delicacy, came to an abrupt end.

Little Job the stubborn cat caused me this pain, but I will live it for my brother’s from the number 9 enclaves, they will handle him this Christmas, trust me.

For your relaxation!
